Bertha Transit 1989-2003

Bertha the Transit van passed away peacefully yesterday after a long battle with rust.

Bertha spent her early years in a York building site but came to live in London after meeting Mike Walker and Jez from Farrah. Immediately she was thrown into the Rock and Roll lifestyle, staying out late, rocking and rolling and gigging from Aberdeen to Aberystwyth. She was especially fond of the service stations along the M1 and often returned from tour festooned with Ginsters pasties and cans of Red Bull.

In her later years Bertha cut a tragic Gaffa-taped figure. By the time of her death she had had many major operations; 6 wing mirrors, 3 clutches, new battery and other procedures too private to mention.

Bertha is survived by the cuddly toys from her dashboard; Monty, Francois and Kevin.

She will be sadly missed.

Felicitations from Felipop

Hello from Jez, I presume all you good people who’ve been waiting for your exam results are now out celebrating or drowning your sorrows!

We’ve just got back from sunny Galicia. This has got to be the most beautiful part of Spain we’ve visited. We were playing the Felipop festival with a few of a label mates from Rock Indiana. The weekend was brilliant fun (only marred by the fact our stage time was 3am!) The Festival was brilliantly organised and the hotel was spitting distance from the beach. I’m sure if you ask nicely the Web monkey will put some photos on the site . Ah, the rock and Roll lifestyle.

Now we’re back home we’re organising a very special gig night at the Water Rats (near Kings Cross) for the middle of October. Bob Harris has been playing tracks from the new album on his Saturday evening show on Radio Two, thanks Bob. Got to go and top up my tan…

Farrah Rock Felipop

farrah recently returned from playing the Felipop Festival in Spain. The band headlined the Saturday night and played the longest set of their lives. A great time was had by all. Photos will be up on the site soon

Farrah Live

?

Isn’t it about time you had a night out?

Come and have a couple of summer drinks when Farrah Headline the Barfly Club, Chalk Farm Road Camden Town on Wednesday the 6th of August. The band will be showcasing material from the forthcoming album ‘Me Too’. The Barfly is a great venue (it’s not even that sweaty) in the heart of London’s coolest district. The band will be on stage at 10pm sharp and promise that you’ll still get the last tube home. The nearest underground stations are Camden Town and Chalk Farm on the Northern Line.

Come and join the fun, it is summer after all!

Best wishes from

Jez, Michelle, Andy and Mike

Nuts In May

Hello and all that, sorry. I should be updating this diary more often. Unfortunately my life isn’t as exciting as Adrian Mole’s. Today I’m packing my rucksack for a weekend in t’ Yorkshire Dales. A holiday? Yes, even though my whole life is one long holiday of touring, drug taking and swarms of groupies I’ve decided to go and stay with my good friend (and ex Farrah bassist) Mike Walker. He hires a cottage in the heart of Yorkshire for a weekend every Year and we mostly play scrabble and go orienteering, yeah right!

It’s a strange feeling when you’ve finished your album. You go home, play it a few times and then…….wait…..We’re waiting to see who wants to put it out in the U.K. All we want is a Lear Jet with a crew of highly trained badgers in return.

I heartily recommend that you listen to Bob Harris’s show this Saturday night on Radio Two. Apparently he’s going to play some more tracks off the new album. Bob has supported the band since the very beginning and his show is the best thing on Radio.

I also recommend you go and buy ‘Welcome Interstate Managers’ the brilliant new album from Fountains Of Wayne. Any band with the lyric “I saw you talking to Christopher Walken, on my TV screen” deserves success.

Well, I’d better get back to my packing…..where’s that flask……
